"The ability to delude yourself may be an important survival tool."
– Jane Wagner
(I don’t actually agree with this quotation, but it is interesting food for thought.)

Old platitudes sometimes seem so meaningful, but they often contradict each other. Consider the following two expressions. Can they both apply simultaneously?
“Never look back unless you are planning to go that way.”
– Henry David Thoreau

Advertising is getting bolder by the day. Even when you read the small print, things are not necessarily as they seem.
Forever
Listen to this 6 minute audio clip from Clark Howard that describes the Capital One definition for the term “forever“.
Unlimited
Read this interesting article from consumeraffairs.com to learn how Verizon defines the term “unlimited“.

This article represents a clear explanation about the root of the problems that exist in many large I.T. organizations. Management simply doesn’t understand the basic principles of encapsulation that are clearly described by some of the software development mavens. The software analysts, architects, designers, and programmers would be better off if we somehow got transported to a universe where solidly engineered component architecture was the norm instead of the exception.

Yesterday, as I was going to meet some friends at lunch, my car started sputtering, and I realized I had ignored the low fuel warning light for too long. I pulled in to a Phillips 66. The gasoline price for 87 octane was $2.999. I put in $5.00 worth of gasoline. As I pulled away from the station, THE LOW-FUEL WARNING LIGHT WAS STILL ON! Ouch! If $5.00 can’t take me off the low-fuel warning status, things are getting ugly.
